Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Twenty-Three: The X-Men Adventure

The X-Men Adventure

First Aired: October 29th, 1983

Synopsis: The Spider-Friends are in the X-Mansion with the X-Men, using the Danger Room when a mysterious man takes control of it and turns the training course deadly. The mysterious man reveals himself as Cyberiad and says that one of the people present knows why he's doing what he is, which is to say, taking control of the X-Mansion and trying to kill everyone with the traps within. Professor X reveals a repressed memory of Firestar's - she dated Cyberiad when she lived on the West Coast, back when he was a scientist named Nathan Pryce. When palette-swapped AIM troopers attacked and injured him in an attempt to get his research, he blamed her for some reason. In the present, the heroes split up so that they have a better chance of getting to Cyberiad. Professor X also reveals that due to Cyberiad taking control of Cerebro, the X-Mansion will explode within two hours if they don't take it back.

Spidey Meets the Girl From Tomorrow

First Aired: October 22nd, 1983

Synopsis: While secret government agent Iceman and Firestar attend a Zodiac-themed party, Peter is doing some stargazing. He ends up detecting the crash landing of a spaceship from five hundred years in the future, and goes to investigate it, not knowing that Doctor Octopus has also detected it. He goes to the spaceship and meets its inhabitants, a brother and sister named Barto and Ariel, respectively, who accidentally travelled to the past while fleeing a space crab. Doctor Octopus attacks shortly afterwards, wanting the spaceship so that he can do time travelling crimes, but Spider-Man fights him off with the help of the Spider-Friends, who knew where to go thanks to a note Spidey left, and the space travellers, who have telepathic powers. Ock runs off when he's defeated. Barto explains that their ship is missing three chemicals to be able to return them home, and while Iceman, Firestar, and he go off to look for two of them, Peter and Ariel turn the ship invisible then run off to spend time with one another, as they're in love.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Twenty-One: Origin of the Spider-Friends

Origin of the Spider-Friends

First Aired: October 15th, 1983

Synopsis: Several years ago, J. Jonah Jameson tells Peter Parker to get photos of Firestar and secret government agent Iceman, since they're newsworthy. Shortly aferwards, Peter runs into them in both their civilian and heroic identities at an inventor's exhibit, when Beetle tries to steal a new crime computer Tony Stark is showing off. The heroes work together to chase off Beetle and save the computer. Shortly afterwards, they run into each other in their civilian identities once more at university, which they all attend. When there's a fire in a nearby building, they work together in their heroic alter egos once again to stop it, but the camera Spider-Man set up to photograph himself for the Bugle catches Firestar switching between her identities. As Spider-Man, Peter meets with them, tells them that he knows their identities, and reveals his own. The three heroes agree to become the Spider-Friends, and move into Aunt May's place.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Twenty: Attack of the Arachnoid

Attack of the Arachnoid

First Aired: October 8th, 1983

Synopsis: The Spider-Friends have a fight with Scorpion, who has a vial of a gas which can make villains. The heroes are able to stop him, but some of the gas escapes in the process. Meanwhile, a scientist named Zoltan has created a serum which will give him Spider-Man's powers, thus letting him commit crimes as Spider-Man. Spider-Man will get the blame, while he'll get money for his research. He injects himself with the serum and soon starts committing crimes, during which time he fights and defeats secret government agent Iceman and Firestar. The two heroes question Peter, who was sleeping at the time, and together they decide to try and find Spider-Man's doppelganger. Unfortunately, Spider-Man and Zoltan's spider-senses interfere with each other, and Spider-Man blacks out after getting a spider-tracer onto Zoltan. When he comes to, he finds himself under arrest for the crimes Zoltan committed.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Nineteen: The Education of a Superhero

The Education of a Superhero


First Aired: October 1st, 1983

Synopsis: A villain named the Gamesman uses a mind control device to command a bunch of people, including secret government agent Iceman, to go to Central Park. An avid gamer named Francis Byte is seemingly the only one unaffected, but he ends up unexpectedly being sucked into the arcade game he's playing instead, which gives him the power to switch between his human form and that of Videoman. After a brief fight with Spider-Man, who thinks that he killed Francis, Videoman experiments with his powers and declares that he'll become a superhero. Meanwhile, Spider-Man and Firestar manage to find Iceman in the crowd of hypnotised people and snap him out of his control. Gamesman retaliates by telling the crowd, now consisting of 300,000 people, to attack the Spider-Friends. Videoman unexpectedly appears, and after going out of his way to save his love interest, Louise, tries saving the Spider-Friends, but is absolutely useless. Gamesman, however, sees an opportunity to use Videoman, and kidnaps Louise.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Eighteen: The Bride of Dracula!

The Bride of Dracula!

First Aired: September 24th, 1983

Synopsis: At a party, Angelica goes off with a mysterious stranger into a garden, whereupon he hypnotises her and says that she'll be his bride. Peter Parker and secret government agent Bobby Drake see this, and get suspicious when they see him drive her to the airport. They follow him in their alter egos, but by the time they arrive he's already gotten onto a flight to Transylvania with her. Spider-Man and Iceman get on the outside of a plane which is travelling in roughly the same direction. The stranger turns out to be Dracula, who hypnotises the pilots of Spider-Man and Iceman's plane to get them to land. Once his plane arrives in Transylvania, a Frankenstein's Monster-esque robot takes her down to the basement of his castle, whereupon she's put into a coffin to sleep. Although Angelica snaps out of the trance she's been put into and tries fighting back against Dracula, he hypnotises her once more.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Seventeen: Spider-Man: Unmasked!

Spider-Man: Unmasked!

First Aired: September 17th, 1983

Synopsis: The gang are all hanging out at the beach when they hear a report about Sandman being on the loose. They briefly change into their alter egos to stop a shark attack, but when Spider-Man changes back to Peter Parker, he unknowingly reveals his identity to a hidden Sandman nearby. Sandman stalks Peter for a while, finding out about Aunt May, and when he later attacks an armoured truck, he taunts Spider-Man with knowledge of his secret identity when the hero tries to stop him. Shocked, Spider-Man is unable to stop Sandman, and after Sandman taunts him some more later, Peter declares that he'll quit being Spider-Man so that Aunt May will be safe. Firestar and secret government agent Iceman are unable to stop Sandman on their own, and so need Peter to return to being Spider-Man. Firestar works out an idea to let Peter resume being Spider-Man - he'll appear in person at the same time as someone wearing a Spider-Man costume, convincing Sandman that he's wrong.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Sixteen: A Firestar is Born

A Firestar is Born

First Aired: September 25th, 1982

Synopsis: Firestar and secret government agent Iceman head out someplace since the date is significant. They pass Spider-Man on the way there, fighting crime, and they tell him that they're going to an X-Men reunion. He wishes them well, but Spider-Man's unexpectedly attacked by Juggernaut, who's looking for the X-Men so that he can kill his brother, Charles Xavier. Spider-Man tries fighting Juggernaut, but ends up knocked out. Meanwhile, at the X-Mansion, Firestar's asked about her origin by Storm, who she hasn't met before. Firestar explains that she was bullied by a girl called Bonnie, who always blamed her for things going wrong. She was raised by her single father and didn't grow up with much money. She gradually realised that she had powers, and began experimenting with projecting heat and flying. One day her father almost died at his job at a construction site, and she used her powers to save him, realising in the process that she could use her powers for good.

Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends Episode Fifteen: Along Came Spidey

Along Came Spidey

First Aired: October 2nd, 1982

Synopsis: Shocker escapes from the prison he's locked up in, and vows revenge on Spider-Man. The next day, he attempts to steal some jewels right when the Spider-Friends are nearby. The heroes change into their alter egos and try and stop him, but Shocker gets away, and in the process Aunt May is nearly hurt. While they're told that she's fine, Peter is blaming himself for it since he was engaging with Shocker at the time it happened. On the roof of the hospital, Peter tells his friends his origin - he was bitten by a radioactive spider and after learning about his powers, got to appear on a TV show. When the studio was being robbed, he didn't stop the thief since he didn't see it as being his job, but the robber later burgled his place and killed his Uncle Ben. After stopping the burglar, Peter learned that with great power there must also come great responsibility.
