Marvel's Spider-Man Episode Thirty-Six: Bring on the Bad Guys, Part Four

Bring on the Bad Guys, Part Four

First Aired: August 6th, 2018

Synopsis: Peter finishes his power amplifier for Horizon's open house then heads to Horizon High as Spider-Man, where he's attacked by Electro, a woman in an electricity-generating suit. She ends up taking his power amplifier when he drops it but when she uses it on her suit it turns her into a being of electrical energy. As the fight breaks into Horizon Spider-Man is able to use equipment from the other open house projects to defeat her, but in the process Horizon is damaged badly enough that the open house can no longer be held. Spider-Man vows to find out who put the bounty on his head and stop them, and as such goes to the warehouse where, according to Prowler, the bounty was first put on his head. He finds a Daily Bugle flash drive with footage of him on it, and realises that J. Jonah Jameson must have put the bounty on his head.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Origin Shorts

Origin Shorts

For this series, Marvel embraced the digital age and released a series of six shorts on Youtube as a lead up to Marvel's Spider-Man, telling Spider-Man's origin. While it screws with my usual episode format, I'll go over them all here, in one post. The six shorts were condensed into one episode, but having just watched them, I think that it's more fair to view them each as an individual piece - short of some serious modifications, I think that the pacing of them would hurt an individual episode thanks to the constant stop-start nature of the storytelling.

Introduction!

First Aired: July 24th, 2017

Synopsis: Spider-Man thinks back to an Oscorp trip several weeks ago, where he got his powers. There, he runs into his friend Harry Osborn, who is going to a separate school from him, Horizon High. There's an alert that some spiders have escaped, and the tour guide emphasises the scientific method to the students. As Peter goes to test a robot with his partner Liz Allen, a spider bites him. He runs off to the bathroom, but knocks down a locked door in the process and begins to wonder what's happening to him.

Miscellaneous Notes:
  • While Peter is in line to enter Oscorp, the student ahead of him looks to be Miles Morales.
  • Spencer Smythe is apparently a teacher at Peter's school, and his son, Alistair, is a student.

Ultimate Spider-Man Episode Ninety-Three: The Symbiote Saga, Part Three

The Symbiote Saga, Part Three

First Aired: July 17th, 2016

Synopsis: Harry, Peter, and Flash are admiring the good work they've done when the remnants of the Carnage symbiote start forming together. Harry runs off to get help while Spider-Man and Flash go after the symbiote, which soon moves towards Midtown High, the only unevacuated place nearby. Spider-Man hits it with his taser webs and it explodes all over the school. Flash and Peter enter the school to look for Mary Jane, and find Stan Lee there. The symbiote attacks them from the wall, forming tiny Carnages which burn Venom when they touch him. Stan escapes via a hidden elevator and the heroes soon run into Morbius, now more vampiric. He's draining Venom's life energy when Harry shows up in the Patrioteer armour and attacks. This causes Morbius to flee, but not before mentioning that he's looking for "the queen". The team are attacked by Carnage-spiders, since the symbiote is apparently evolving, and the heroes flee from them. They soon find Mary Jane, but she turns out to be the Carnage Queen. Morbius reappears and uses a device he prepared earlier to control her.

As Spider-Man rejoins his friends he's attacked by the Lizard, but saved by Stan attacking it with his mop. His communicator is damaged in the process, which means he can't call his team for help. Spectacular Spider-Man Episode Fourteen: Blueprints

Blueprints

Nice and streamlined version of Mysterio's classic look. It works well.

First Aired: June 22nd, 2009

Synopsis: Peter's unsure how to proceed with Gwen after she kissed him, and wants to look for Eddie, who's disappeared. He resolves to talk to Gwen, but when he goes to school things are awkward between them. At the city docks a shipment of computer parts for Empire State University has just arrived. A flamboyant man, Mysterio, shows up and says that he'll save people from the evils of technology, then says some vaguely Latin-sounding words and makes the shipment disappear. Back at school, Peter tries to talk to Gwen, but Liz Allan interrupts and asks Peter to tutor her, which he agrees to. Later, Mysterio goes to liberate a truck of its cargo, but Spider-Man appears and fights him. Mysterio ends up using his magic to throw the truck off the bridge they're on, and while Spider-Man's saving the driver Mysterio disappears. When Peter mentions what's happened to Liz, in the context of reading a Daily Bugle article about it, she mentions that if Mysterio is doing magic, it's probably all about misdirection.
