Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-One: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 4 - Enter the Green Goblin

Enter the Green Goblin

First Aired: May 18th, 1996

Synopsis: Oscorp's board of directors are disgusted with Norman Osborn for making chemical weapons at Oscorp, but unbeknownst to them, he's only doing so since the Kingpin - himself a board member - is forcing him to. As Osborn and another scientist, Stromm, work on the chemical, it explodes and there's a fire. Spider-Man shows up and saves Stromm, but Norman Osborn can't be saved. Harry Osborn soon joins Oscorp's executives, but is stressed out and blames them for the death of his father. Soon afterwards, a new character calling himself the Green Goblin starts kidnapping the board members, and when Spider-Man fights him, it turns out that the Goblin has super-strength. When Spider-Man investigates Oscorp, remembering that Hobgoblin's weapons came from there, he sees a stressed-out Harry looking at blueprints for the Goblin's weapons, and starts to wonder whether Harry might be the Goblin, getting revenge on the board of directors.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 3 - Attack of the Octobot

Attack of the Octobot

First Aired: May 11th, 1996

Synopsis: Having defeated Spider-Man, Doctor Octopus takes him away using his car, but unbeknownst to him, Taina gets in the back. Octopus uses his neuro-neutraliser ray to eliminate Spider-Man's memory, which lets Octopus convince Spidey that they're working together. Fortunately, Spider-Man's spider-sense convinces him not to unmask in front of Octopus. Seeing what's happened to Spider-Man, Taina runs off to find help, and after being taken to a police station, ends up convincing a taxi driver named Mousie to help her save Spider-Man, since he saved her from a mugger in the past. Spider-Man and Octopus attack a foundry, and while Octopus fights the foundry's robo-tanks, Spider-Man manages to steal an alloy. They're followed to the foundry by Mousie and Taina, and Taina briefly gets the chance to talk to Spider-Man. Unfortunately, although she tries telling him that this isn't who he is, Spider-Man ends up running off with Ock again. Taina and Mousie decide to go to the only person they know who can help them: J. Jonah Jameson.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Twenty-Nine: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 2 - Make a Wish

Make a Wish

First Aired: May 4th, 1995

Synopsis: The Hardy Foundation is demonstrating their new Argon-Matrix laser, which can cut things precisely and be configured to not harm organic matter, when Doctor Octopus attacks. Peter Parker is there as a photographer, and he changes to Spider-Man and fights Octopus. In the process, a medical lab is destroyed. Octopus gets away, and the next day Spider-Man is heavily criticised in the paper for destroying valuable equipment. At the Daily Bugle, Peter is enraged by this, and decides to quit being Spider-Man, but before he leaves, Robbie Robertson gives him a letter to give to Spider-Man. The letter is from the parents of a young fan of Spider-Man who want him to visit her, but Peter dismisses it. Once he's outside, he's mentally contacted by Madam Web, who knows that he's Spider-Man and tells him that he needs to stop doubting himself. Seemingly teleporting Peter to her place, she deals some tarot cards and says that Spider-Man must believe in her and have the faith of a child.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Twenty-Eight: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 1 - Doctor Strange

First Aired: April 27th, 1996

Synopsis: After Mary Jane disappeared last episode, Peter went to Anna Watson, who was a massive jerk to him. As Spider-Man, he sees a group of flying ninjas infiltrate a strange building, and goes after them. He unmasks one of them and discovers that it's Mary Jane. The occupant of the building, Doctor Strange, saves Spider-Man from the ninjas. Spider-Man follows the ninjas and finds them at the Church of Reunification, a cult lead by Baron Mordo. Since the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak keep him out, he infiltrates it as Peter Parker. Meanwhile, Doctor Strange gives his origin to Wong, and explains about how Baron Mordo tried to kill the Ancient One, which ended up being a test to see whether he was worthy of becoming the Ancient One's successor. At the church, Peter's attempts to get Mary Jane to leave are futile, as she thinks her father's there, and Peter's hypnotised by Mordo. When the group return to Strange's for the Wand of Watoomb, Doctor Strange frees Peter - as Spider-Man - of Mordo's magic.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Twenty-Seven: Neogenic Nightmare, Chapter 14 - The Final Nightmare

The Final Nightmare

First Aired: February 24th, 1996

Synopsis: The aged Spider-Man manages to escape from Vulture when there's a secondary explosion at the latter's penthouse which distracts him. Spider-Man manages to make his way home, but is weakened and needs to take a bus home after unmasking. At the same time, Vulture attacks Norman Osborn's helicopter and manages to get Osborn on his own, only for Vulture to unexpectedly mutate into the Man-Spider, allowing Osborn to escape. Back at home, Peter still hasn't returned to his normal age, and so he calls up Professor Connors for help. Connors tells him to come to his lab the next day and he'll see what he can do. Shortly afterwards Vulture, youthful again, goes to Connors himself and says that he needs help returning to normal, since he's alternating between being Man-Spider and himself. Connors realises that when Vulture absorbed Spider-Man's youth, he also absorbed the DNA responsible for the mutation. They're interrupted by Scorpion, who's kidnapped his creator Farley Stillwell, and wants to use neogenics to return to normal. Scorpion and Vulture fight before realising that they can work together.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Twenty-Six: Neogenic Nightmare, Chapter 13 - Shriek of the Vulture

Shriek of the Vulture

First Aired: February 17th, 1995

Synopsis: Norman Osborn tries convincing the board of directors of Toomes Aerodynamics to sell the company to him. Its CEO, Adrian Toomes, plans to stop Osborn, and tests out his new equipment as the Vulture, which lets him fly and drain the youth from people, temporarily de-aging him and aging up the person he's drained. Spider-Man fights him, but Vulture flees when he starts aging up. Peter later goes to an awards ceremony where Professor Connors is granted the Toomes Foundation grant, and he declares that Debbie Whitman will be his lab assistant. Peter starts feeling morose about his own love life and leaves the building, only to encounter Vulture going after Osborn. He saves Osborn, and manages to save a picture of Vulture with his true age, identifying him as Toomes. Peter tries to warn Debbie, now working at a lab run by the Toomes Foundation, but she doesn't listen to him. While there, Peter also runs into Flash Thompson, and he tells Flash that Debbie's interested in him.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Twenty-Five: Neogenic Nightmare, Chapter 12 - Ravages of Time

Ravages of Time

First Aired: November 25th, 1995

Synopsis: Tombstone manages to escape with Connors from the university lab. Spider-Man finds himself outside the Coffee Bean, where he had a date scheduled with Alisa, but she's kidnapped by Hammerhead. At Silvermane's base, Connors is thrown in a lab and told to work out how to de-age Silvermane. At home, Spider-Man works on a new Spider-Tracer that will adhere to Alistair Smythe's Mega-Slayer, then goes to meet with the villain. He can't deliver Connors since he's been kidnapped, but Alistair thinks that Spider-Man's lying and attacks him. He's called off by Kingpin after he and Silvermane come to an agreement, since each of them are holding someone the other cares about. Alistair's Mega-Slayer leaves Spider-Man, but Spidey follows him to the hostage exchange using his new Spider-Tracer, where Connors and Vanessa Fisk are being traded for Alisa. Alistair tries grabbing everyone for himself, and in the chaos Connors and his wife end up with Tombstone, Vanessa is taken for Kingpin, and Alisa is taken by Hammerhead.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Twenty-Four: Neogenic Nightmare, Chapter 11 - Tablet of Time

Tablet of Time

First Aired: November 18th, 1995

Synopsis: Some explorers find a Toltec pyramic, and inside it the mythical Tablet of Time, which is taken to Empire State University to be studied by Doctor Connors. When it arrives at the docks, Hammerhead is sent to retrieve it by Silvermane, who wants it since it has a formula upon it to make you younger, but is stopped by Spider-Man. Hammerhead is fired by Silvermane, and goes to Kingpin, who starts making plans of his own to get the tablet. When Spider-Man shows up at university to get his neogenic treatment, Connors explains to Spider-Man that if he can decipher the tablet then he can cure Spider-Man's mutation with it. While they're talking, a robot bursts through the wall, controlled by Alistair Smythe, and tries to steal the tablet. Although Spider-Man tries luring the robot away, Smythe is ultimately successful in getting the tablet. During the fight, Connors' arm briefly mutates to the Lizard's and back again.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Twenty-Three: Neogenic Nightmare, Chapter 10 - The Immortal Vampire

The Immortal Vampire

First Aired: February 10th, 1996

Synopsis: Spider-Man and Blade go to an electronics building where Morbius is, Spider-Man having worked out he'll be there since he took a chip out of the Neogenic Recombinator and Morbius needs a replacement. Morbius gets away with his chip, but in the process police officer Terri Lee gets involved and joins the team-up. Spider-Man tells the others that he needs more webbing and heads home, where he finds Morbius going through his room looking for more altered blood. Spidey lets him leave without confronting him, and is shortly afterwards called to the Daily Bugle where Morbius has also been. Jonah wants to fire Peter, but Peter convinces him that he can get a photo of the vampire responsible for the plasma sickness across the city, and also convinces Jonah to lend him a newsvan. Peter meets with Blade and tells him that Spider-Man sent him as part of his plan. Peter heads home with the van, where he's confronted by Mary Jane, who wants to salvage their relationship. Since Peter can sense Morbius nearby, he lies and tells her that he's into Felicia Hardy. She leaves, and once she has Morbius confronts Peter.
