Ultimate Spider-Man Episode Twenty-Three: Not a Toy

Not a Toy

First Aired: October 7th, 2012

Synopsis: Spider-Man and his team are doing a training session with Captain America, who easily defeats them all. They follow it up with another and Captain America warns them all that they focus too much on their powers over their other assets. After the second session Cap leaves his shield for the team to have a look at while he goes to talk to Coulson, explicitly telling them not to throw the shield. Spider-Man disobeys this order for some reason, and it goes flying out of the helicarrier. After bouncing through Manhattan it lands in the Latverian embassy, where Doctor Doom claims it. Spider-Man follows the shield and Doom fires a missile at him when he shows up, but Captain America arrives and stops it. He then breaks into the embassy with Spider-Man, saying that the shield's unique properties mean that if Doom can reverse-engineer the metal it'll make him unstoppable. After fighting their way through the embassy's defences, they discover a computer which says that the shield is in Latveria, and that Doom is planning an invasion of American cities.

Ultimate Spider-Man Episode Three: Doomed

Doomed

First Aired: April 8th, 2012

Synopsis: Peter's annoyed at Sam Alexander for hanging out at his lunch table, and when they start to fight about it, Coulson puts the two of them in detention. It turns out to be a pretense for them to get transported to SHIELD, where they'll do some training. Spider-Man and Nova get too hot-headed and destroy the drones that were supposed to be used, so Fury punishes the team by making them clean up. Afterwards, Spider-Man mentioning that he's taken out plenty of villains gives White Tiger an idea: if the team can capture someone on SHIELD's most wanted list, it'll put them in Fury's good books. Nova suggests Doctor Doom, and while White Tiger and Spider-Man think it's a terrible idea, the team set off for Latveria in SHIELD planes anyway. When they arrive Nova is nearly taken out by robots, but the team save him, only for Doctor Doom himself to arrive.

The Fantastic Four go to save the Thing in spite of Spider-Man's insistence that they wait for reinforcements, and upon arriving at New Latveria, discover that they are let in without issue and that within it's a paradise for the native aliens of the planet. At Doctor Doom's castle, a human Ben Grimm greets them and explains that he was transformed back by Doom. Doom himself arrives and explains that he's not a tyrant - he's ruling over the aliens because if he doesn't, another villain will capture them and rule over them. He also reveals that he's fixed up his face so that it's no longer scarred. Reed is doubtful of all of this and attacks Doom, leading to all of the heroes being captured. The Thing tries to convince Doom to let them be free, and Doom points out that the Thing won't even tell him how they got here. The Thing agrees to tell him if the heroes are free, and explains about the Beyonder.
