Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Nine: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 12 - The Spot

The Spot

First Aired: October 26th, 1996

Synopsis: Tony Stark shuts down scientist Johnathan Ohnn's interdimension research, and the latter ends up getting a job with Kingpin, working alongside scientist Doctor Silvia Lopez. After a development period, they end up testing it, and create a giant portal which Ohnn gets sucked into. Portals appear all around Manhattan, including one at the theme park where Peter's on a date with Mary Jane. Peter changes to Spider-Man to save a roller coaster from being sucked in, but then gets teleported to Manhattan by one of the portals, making it look like he abandoned Mary Jane. Ohnn, meanwhile, returns to his lab and finds that he can control portals. He closes them all across the city, but unknowingly misses one. He decides to stop working for Kingpin and do research on his own, but needs capital first. Spider-Man runs into him robbing a bank as The Spot, but is unable to stop him and ends up getting thrown to the Statue of Liberty.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Eight: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 11 - Carnage

Carnage

First Aired: November 9th, 1996

Synopsis: Venom saves Spider-Man from Carnage since he wants him for himself, and then the two villains leave with the Stark Enterprises interdimensional probe when Baron Mordo reproaches them. The two of them fight again once they're back at Mordo's base, and Venom ends up leaving. Dormammu reveals that he can only leave his dimension if an equal amount of of life force replaces him, and Carnage is soon in the streets, rampaging and absorbing life force for Dormammu. Spider-Man tries to fight him but is defeated, but Carnage has absorbed enough life force and can't take his, so he leaves. Eddie Brock shows up at Aunt May's, and from her finds out that Peter's at the Daily Bugle. He goes there as Venom and starts to fight Spider-Man and Iron Man, who has shown up since his interdimensional probe was stolen. Ashley Kafka is also there, and she tries to talk Eddie down, since the symbiote is influencing him so strongly. He tries resisting but ends up swinging off with Kafka as his hostage.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Seven: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 10 - Venom Returns

Venom Returns

First Aired: November 2nd, 1996

Synopsis: Vicious criminal Cletus Kassady is surrounded in his home by the police, who enter it to capture him. Terri Lee is captured by Kassady but Spider-Man shows up and saves her. While this happens, a meteor lands on the outskirts of the city, and the symbiote emerges from it when a couple investigates.  In prison, Eddie Brock goes over his origin to his counsellor, Ashley Kafka, and explains that he originally became a reporter since he wanted to combat injustice. Kassady is brought in in the midst of this, and he and Eddie immediately clash. Meanwhile, Baron Mordo is contacted by Dormammu, who wants to use the symbiote for his own plans. Mordo contacts Eddie and asks him if he'll accept the symbiote back if it means working for Domammu, and Eddie accepts. Shortly afterwards, one half of the couple who encountered the symbiote at the start of the episode visits Eddie, and gives him the symbiote which turns him into Venom again. Kassady sees this and is jealous. Venom goes to Dormammu, who explains that Mordo secretly sent the space probe the symbiote was stuck to back to Earth and hypnotised the woman to give it to him.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Six: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 9 - Tombstone

Tombstone

First Aired: October 12th, 1996

Synopsis: Tombstone is hired by Alisa Silvermane to make sure a Daily Bugle expose on her never makes it to print. Tombstone starts off by breaking into Peter Parker's house to get his negatives for the story, and while Peter goes after him as Spider-Man, he's unable to stop him. Robbie Robertson, the other person working on the story, is blackmailed by Tombstone into a meeting, right when Robbie is confronting his son Randy about the fact that he's joined a gang and was trying to steal Robbie's gun for them. When Robbie meets with Tombstone in a crypt, Robbie refuses to squash the story, and Tombstone gets into a fight with him. Spider-Man's followed Robbie since he anticipated Tombstone going after him, though, and he's able to save him. Afterwards, Robbie explains to Spider-Man that he was friends with Tombstone - Lonnie - when they were children, but when Lonnie pressured him into robbing a convenience store, only Lonnie was caught and sent to juvenile prison. Years later, Lonnie tried framing Robbie for breaking into a chemical factory, but he ended up falling into a vat of chemicals, which is how he got how he is now.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Five: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Slayer

The Ultimate Slayer

First Aired: October 5th, 1996

Synopsis: Peter discovers in the Daily Bugle that Mary Jane and Harry Osborn are engaged, right before getting a call from Alistair Smythe, who wants Spider-Man's help. He suspects that Kingpin is going to betray him, and wants to be saved. Peter changes to Spider-Man and goes to the meeting spot, but Alistair arrives, heavily mutated, and attacks him. Spider-Man only survives when Madam Web teleports him away, and tells him to focus on why Alistair is attacking him rather than how to stop him. Alistair returns to the Kingpin, and it's revealed that he's got programming so that he can't hurt Kingpin or the scientist who transformed him - Herbert Landon. Alistair flashes back to being transformed by Landon, and then to his father's death. He decides that Norman Osborn is responsible for his father's death, and flies off in his hover-chair to confront Osborn. Norman's at Oscorp Towers for a press conference, as are Peter, Mary Jane, and Harry. Peter talks to Mary Jane about her engagement, and she implies that that she doesn't actually love Harry.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Four: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 7 - The Man Without Fear

The Man Without Fear

First Aired: September 28th, 1996

Synopsis: Spider-Man and Daredevil get away from the explosion at Fisktronics and with the data disc which can prove Peter Parker's innocence. The two split up to get away from guards, but not before Daredevil reveals to Spider-Man that philanthropist Wilson Fisk is the Kingpin. When Spider-Man returns to Matt Murdock's penthouse he sees a news item that his Aunt May was taken to hospital, and he rushes out to see her, although Matt warns him that Kingpin might expect this. For his part, Matt takes the disc to federal agent Susan Choi, who soon starts acting suspiciously, leading to police officer Terri Lee to start following her. At the hospital, Peter manages to sneak past some guards with Mary Jane's help and to see Aunt May, but the Chameleon, disguised as Anna Watson, knocks Peter and Mary Jane out with some gas. They're taken to Richard Fisk, who has been given the data disc by Choi. Terri contacts Matt about the latter.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Three: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 6 - Framed

Framed

First Aired: September 21st, 1996

Synopsis: Peter Parker is in court, and is declared guilty of the most heinous of crimes, in spite of the best efforts of his lawyer, Matt Murdock. While he's being taken away to prison there are explosions and he's rescued by Spider-Man. Peter thinks back to how this all started - Richard Fisk, son of philanthropist Wilson Fisk, hired Peter to work for Wilson's new company, Fisktronics, as he knew that Peter was good with computers and was grateful for Peter saving Wilson's life in the past. Peter did well at the job, which mostly involved him taking home a disc every day with diagnostic problems, but one day he was attacked outside of work by people with guns. He managed to escape from them as Spider-Man, but they went to his home, where it turned out that they were federal agents. They were suspicious that someone was selling defence secrets to other countries, and it turned out the disc Peter had that day was full of them. Peter was assigned Matt Murdock as his lawyer, but as seen at the start of the episode, he was still declared guilty.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Two: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 5 - Rocket Racer

Rocket Racer

First Aired: September 14th, 1996

Synopsis: Big Wheel and his gang of Rocket Raiders rob several banks, leading to Spider-Man breaking off his make-out session with Felicia Hardy to go and stop them. He's able to stop several of the thugs, and some of their money is dropped. Robert Farrell, a young man who needs money for his mother, finds the money, but is arrested by the police since they think he stole it. His bail is paid by Felicia Hardy, since he goes to a school funded by the Hardy Foundation and she cares for him. However, he's furious at what's happened. Spider-Man fails to stop the criminals permanently, and goes to do some tutoring at the Hardy Foundation school, where he notes that in spite of Robert's excellent gyroscopic project, he isn't in. While he's there, Felicia's asked out by a man named Jason Phillips, who's donating to the foundation. Later, Robert's family's grocery store is shaken down by some thugs for protection money. Robert follows one of them to their warehouse, and it turns out that they're the Rocket Raiders. He steals some of their technology and modifies it so that he can use it with his skateboard, creating a new identity as the Rocket Racer.
