Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Forty-Five: Partners in Danger, Chapter 4 - Return of Kraven

Return of Kraven

First Aired: February 22nd, 1997

Synopsis: Peter Parker is seeing Felicia Hardy about the Hardy Foundation's science budget for the next year, when a report comes in of someone breaking into a lab, and footage shows it to be Kraven the Hunter. Peter changes to Spider-Man and confronts him, but Kraven escapes. Spider-Man tries going after him, but is drugged and only survives because Black Cat appears and saves him. Returning to the lab, they discover that it contained the serum which initially turned him insane. The two heroes find and fight Kraven at a construction site, but he's able to escape when Spider-Man has to save Black Cat. Spider-Man's angry at her for putting herself in danger and tries to convince her to give up being a crime fighter, but she thinks to herself that she's doing it for her father's sake. Soon afterwards, reports spring up of an animalistic attacker hunting civilians, which Spider-Man assumes is Kraven.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Forty-Four: Partners in Danger, Chapter 3 - The Black Cat


The Black Cat

First Aired: February 15th, 1998

Synopsis: Spider-Man is swinging across the city, looking for Felicia Hardy, who's been missing for days. A nearby robbery catches his attention and he briefly fights the thief, the Black Cat, who manages to defeat him but leaves, having more been fighting him to test her own powers. She returns to her employer, Kingpin, and it's revealed that she's Felicia Hardy, who has been modified by the Super-Soldier Serum and has to work for Kingpin to protect her father, John Hardesky. Peter Parker goes to the Daily Bugle for information about the Black Cat, but can't find anything on her. While he's there Jonah talks to him, and asks whether Peter knows what's going on with Felicia, since her mother's staying with him. While Peter can't help, he goes to Felicia's mum and gives her a spider-tracer in case she needs him for anything. Back at Kingpin's base, Hardesky helps Felicia escape.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Forty-Three: Partners in Danger, Chapter 2 - The Cat

The Cat

First Aired: February 8th, 1997

Synopsis: Still feeling guilty over Mary Jane's disappearance into a portal, Spider-Man goes to Felicia Hardy since she's also experienced loss. He finds her and her mother being threatened by Doctor Octopus, who had been discussing some negotiations with Felicia's mother before Felicia came home. Doctor Octopus leaves after a brief fight with Spider-Man, and Spider-Man finds a photo of Felicia's father. Before Spider-Man leaves, Felicia tells him that Octopus and her mum were discussing something called the Ausbach Fortune. When Doctor Octopus gets back to his base, he's attacked by some men, captured, and taken to Kingpin, who explains that Octopus is getting in the way of one of his schemes, and forces an alliance. Kingpin then explains that when Chameleon was captured previously, he had a techno-organic virus put into him which lets him shapeshift without his belt, and lets Kingpin contact him remotely. Kingpin shows Octopus Chameleon's point of view, and that his cellmate is John Hardesky, Felicia's father. Kingpin reveals that Chameleon's imprisoned in the SHIELD Helicarrier.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Forty-Two: Partners in Danger, Chapter 1 - Guilty

Guilty

First Aired: February 1st, 1997

Synopsis: Robbie Robertson heads off to a sports game of his son Randy's, but is gassed by a taxi driver and knocked out. Shortly afterwards, Spider-Man, who is feeling guilty over Mary Jane disappearing into a portal in the previous episode, and is contemplating retiring, follows a police car to the docks. He fights the criminals he finds there, only to find out their leader is a groggy and confused Robbie Robertson, who seemingly shoots at him. The thugs and Robbie are all arrested, and declared guilty. J. Jonah Jameson is sure that something is wrong, and insists that Robbie is innocent. Peter looks over some shots he has of the fight and finds that when Robbie shot at him, his finger wasn't anywhere near the trigger of the gun. Jonah takes this evidence and goes to a cop friend of his to investigate. Unbeknownst to either of them, Kingpin laughs that his plan is succeeding, and hacks some computers to move Robbie to a different prison.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Forty-One: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 14 - Turning Point

Turning Point

First Aired: November 23rd, 1996

Synopsis: Annoyed by Madam Web, Spider-Man tells her to stop interfering in his life and to leave him alone, since he's perfectly happy as he is. Elsewhere, the Green Goblin is working on minituarising the time dilation accelerator, and he robs a truck to draw out Spider-Man. He disappears, and while Spider-Man searches for the Goblin, the Goblin stalks him, using the time dilation accelerator to disappear so Spider-Man doesn't detect him. He ends up seeing Spider-Man unmask as Peter Parker. After unmasking, Peter meets with Mary Jane, who tells him that they've been invited to Harry Osborn's birthday party that evening. They go there, and Peter's surprised to discover that Harry only invited them because Norman pressured him to. Norman drops hints to Peter that he knows his identity, and when he implies that he's about to reveal it to Harry's guests, Peter starts a fire to get everyone out. He starts a fight with Norman, who has already changed into the Green Goblin, but Norman's able to capture Peter.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Forty: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 13 - Goblin War!

Goblin War!

First Aired: November 16th, 1996

Synopsis: The time dilation accelerator, which created The Spot, emerges from the dimension it was trapped in. It's found by a man who tries selling it to a pawn shop, right before opening a portal with it. Peter goes off to close it as Spider-Man right as he's talking to Mary Jane about how well everything is going between them, but Hobgoblin arrives and grabs the accelerator. He uses it as a teleporter to rob places, but it soon starts running low on power and he makes a deal with Kingpin to share some of his loot in return for some power packs. Later, Jason Phillips is announcing his engagement to Felicia Hardy at a social event Peter and Mary Jane are attending. Peter's spider-sense goes off right before he's introduced to Jason, and he assumes that it's because Kingpin's nearby. Kingpin goes to see Norman Osborn, and Peter eavesdrops on them. Kingpin wants to know Hobgoblin's identity, and while Norman's shaken by the mention of goblins, he agrees to meet Fisk later and tell him then. Shortly afterwards, Norman has a breakdown, and he hallucinates the Green Goblin talking to him before snapping and resuming the identity.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series Episode Thirty-Nine: The Sins of the Fathers, Chapter 12 - The Spot

The Spot

First Aired: October 26th, 1996

Synopsis: Tony Stark shuts down scientist Johnathan Ohnn's interdimension research, and the latter ends up getting a job with Kingpin, working alongside scientist Doctor Silvia Lopez. After a development period, they end up testing it, and create a giant portal which Ohnn gets sucked into. Portals appear all around Manhattan, including one at the theme park where Peter's on a date with Mary Jane. Peter changes to Spider-Man to save a roller coaster from being sucked in, but then gets teleported to Manhattan by one of the portals, making it look like he abandoned Mary Jane. Ohnn, meanwhile, returns to his lab and finds that he can control portals. He closes them all across the city, but unknowingly misses one. He decides to stop working for Kingpin and do research on his own, but needs capital first. Spider-Man runs into him robbing a bank as The Spot, but is unable to stop him and ends up getting thrown to the Statue of Liberty.
